Arturo Vivar, Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Vivar has more than 25 years experience in the energy industry, initially working as an engineer and later in various leadership roles in the natural gas, power and crude oil sectors. He began his career as an engineer at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and later served as International Treasurer for Silicon Graphics. He then went on to be one of the original marketers for Enron Capital & Trade from 1992 until 1996 where he structured and sold long term natural gas packages, and was a founding member of Enron’s power trading and marketing group.

Arturo moved into the energy infrastructure portion and entrepreneurial side of his career while working at Cinergy, where he created a group that successfully restructured independent power projects and held titles including Chief Risk Officer of the Commodity Business Unit and VP Business Development & Origination. His next venture was with WesPac Energy, where he focused on developing energy infrastructure, commodity supply decisions, hedging and risk management.

Most recently, Arturo was a founder and CFO of Rangeland Energy, a private equity backed, Houston-based oil and gas infrastructure company focused on the Bakken. As an owner and CFO, he participated in all aspects of the company’s activities. Arturo is a Civil Engineer from Cal Polytechnic University and has his MBA from Stanford.

Michael A. Williams, President

Prior to founding Monterra Energy, Mr. Williams was the COO and Founding Partner of Remvest Energy Partners, a private investment company focused on energy investments and advisory services in Latin America. Mr. Williams has been active in the global energy sector since 1999 with experience across both the exploration & production and oilfield services sector and with substantial experience in Latin America. Previously he was the Sr. Operations and Corporate Planning Coordinator for Remora Energy. Mr. Williams joined Remora shortly after its inception and oversaw the buildup of the organization in Colombia, oversaw operations across two years which included 2 operated oilfields, over 7 operated exploration and appraisal wells, civil works and a 13-person Operations Team. His corporate planning responsibilities included asset management across 10 blocks (5 operated), corporate scheduling and budgeting, growth through bid rounds, business development and execution of the divestiture program in 2011.

Prior to Remora, he held several executive level roles at both private and publicly traded global oilfield services companies in roles including corporate and business development, M&A, and project management. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary.

Cinthya Cifuentes, Chief Financial Officer

Cinthya Cifuentes joined the Monterra team in May 2019. Cinthya has more than 20 years of experience in the energy industry. Before joining Monterra, she held senior management positions on several major pipeline Projects in Mexico, including CFO for TAG Pipelines Sur, Energia Mayakan and Gasoductos del Bajío. She has also held multiple Finance & Controlling positions at TransCanada, GDF Suez, and Engie, including: Project Controller, Regulation and Tariff Lead, Risk Manager, Finance Manager, Accounting Manager, and Insurance Manager.

Cinthya started her career with TransCanada Pipelines in 1998. Cinthya holds a Public Accounting degree from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios de Monterrey and Saint Mary’s University in Canada.
